”1896 TIV (in the year of 1896), Sektemberi 8in (September 8th), E G (E=20 and G=3) or 23rd,

hatzhi Salati (celebration or on the birthday of Salat, name of the son), Aghajan Yeghzayan (the father of Salat), ays vasin ees (this my holding), patkani Salatoun (will belong to Salat).

Owner’s Note, Basically the dad is expressing his will on this rug to pass all his wealth to his son on the son’s 23rd birthday.

As you can see his farm or land is bordered with large trees shown with large roots on a black back ground or GHARABAGH (black garden or rich soil) in the middle his house is shown from the roof top with expended rooms or several rooms meaning a large home, several goats, ship, farming tools, employees, fruit and flower gardens and trees belonging to Aghajan and Salt proudly standing on the top of the rug with his hands shown as a sign of purity overlooking his dads estate.

Sides:3 cord selvage multi color lengths 4-5 inchs: brown, red. ochre, beige and tan
Colors: 8, red, light red, rose, brown, black, green,
ivory and ochre.
